Maryland Suspends Foreclosures and Evictions

On April 3, 2020, the governor of Maryland issued an executive order, amending the government’s emergency response to the COVID-19 health crisis to suspend all residential foreclosures and certain evictions for the duration of the state of emergency.  The order prohibits the initiation of all residential foreclosures.  In addition, residential and commercial tenants may not be evicted if they can demonstrate a substantial loss of income resulting from COVID-19.
